today has been a really great day. kind of a holiday around here. we slept in. we ate breakfast late. we watched a movie during nap time. (Zach & I did...the kids read. :))
Then we got busy making cards and cupcakes and gathering these beautiful blankets. We ended up with 16 blankets. i was so glad to take something into the hospital today. they are all so beautiful and will be much appreciated.
my family ended up going to the hospital with me. the exact same nurse that greeted us in labor and delivery a year ago, greeted us today. that was a little bit crazy. she remembered us. i guess we're unforgettable. i guess she is too because i remembered her as well. our kids actually liked going in where Lily was born. i wasn't too much of a fan. i left in a somber mood, but glad that i went.we ventured to the cemetery and planted one of these Lily flowers in the Baby Land garden. (we took the other two home and planted them with our other Lily flowers. (my mother and sister in law were so thoughtful to plant some Lily bulbs last fall for us. that has been a really nice thing.)
Zach is such a looker!...and great at planting flowers!
getting ready to send balloons up to Heaven to Lily.
Sarah and her cousin Abby wanted to be the last to send their balloons up. girls. :)
ignore the spots on my lens. i have no clue how to get rid of them. i do love the pictures of the balloons in the sky. it is healing to me and i know it is to my kids to be able to say, "we love you Lily" and "happy birthday" out loud.
our cards to Lily.
then we went to the park for dinner and to play. my mom and two brothers Matt & Dave, were able to make it. they brought my little sisters kids because she had to go to Wicked. i feel sorry for her. :)
life is busy and life is life and we know more of our family would have been there if they could have. we felt very loved today.
i love watching my kids play! this is Josh and Sarah rolling down the hill.
this is Ben climbing a tree. i swear trees have magnets with him. he loves to climb them!
We came home and planted the other Lily flowers and got the kids into bed. I read a little Harry Potter with Ben. That is new for me as I've never read it before. We're on chapter two. He's hooked.
Today has really been a nice day. Next year we'll take more blankets and do something similar. it is really nice to take time out to slow down and remember.
I will always remember and love Lily. Always. Happy Birthday Lily!

My friend also had her little baby Michael on this same day last year, who was stillborn. He had Trisomy 18. You have both been very uplifting as I have watched from a distance as you mourn the loss of your sweet angels!
You are so strong!! You are in my thoughts! XOXOXOXO
Love you Becca. Wish I could see you again tonight. Thanks again for your posts. You really make me want to be a better person. You are amazing.
I'm glad the day went well. I thought of you all day yesterday.
I LOVE the way you celebrated Lily! The blankets are beautiful! I'm sure they are going to bring a lot of comfort to some family. It is hard to go back to the hospital, a lot of hard memories.
I love the Lily plants! How perfect. The cards were adorable too. I'm glad the day went well. Happy Birthday Lily.
